Nathan Brostrom

NathBrostroman Brostrom is Executive Vice President—Business Operations for the UC System. Brostrom has served in this role on a permanent basis since February 2010, as well as in an interim capacity for the prior five months. In this role, Brostrom serves as the Chief Operating Officer for the University and is responsible for overseeing the University’s business-related operations, including the system-wide budget, human resource administration, information technology, institutional advancement, and facility construction and maintenance.

Prior to this position, Brostrom served as Vice Chancellor—Administration, at UC Berkeley, where he was the chief administrative and financial officer; managing the campus’s annual operating budget of nearly $1.8 billion and leading the division that is the largest provider of services to campus staff and a significant provider of services to students. Brostrom came to Berkeley in March 2006. Before coming to UC, he spent 10 years as Managing Director and Manager of the Western Region Public Finance Group for JPMorgan, where he worked on financings for higher education, cultural institutions and municipal clients throughout the western U.S. Brostrom has also worked in the Office of the California State Treasurer and has additional experience with JPMorgan Securities and Merrill Lynch Capital Markets. In May 2009, he was named Bay Area CFO of the Year for a non-public company. Brostrom graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Stanford University in 1985 and earned an MPA in Public Policy and International Affairs from Princeton University in 1989.
