SAFE EXIT

Erik Ryder

erik_SLCErik Ryder

I spent 4 years working with youth experiencing homelessness, both in North Carolina and North Dakota. I currently work as a counselor at a medium security prison in North Dakota. I started the first LGBTQ+ support group in a ND correctional facility. My second job is a care coordinator for people struggling with mental illness and addiction in the community. I also have my own small art business, Erik’s Awesome Art, and mostly focus on making spray paint space art.

I am passionate about this work because it is my life. I have a lot of lived experience, and now I’m adding professional experience. I am transgender. I have been homeless and a sex worker. I feel like I have always been fighting an uphill battle, and now I get to help others with their struggles as well.
