Futures Without Violence is hosting a convening to address emerging strategies for preventing and responding to elder abuse outside the legal system, including restorative justice, economic justice, legal system off-ramps, and community partnerships.

Convening Objectives
As a result of attending this convening, participants can expect to:
- Define and apply models of restorative justice, economic justice, and survivor-defined elder justice to their respective programs and work
- Draft and share goals to enhance their community-based services to better serve older adults’ needs for alternatives to the criminal legal system
- Broaden their networks of allied organizations and professionals working to end elder abuse through a restorative and prevention-oriented lens
- Utilize tools and resources to advance equity for older adults
Who should attend?
Community-based advocacy groups, elder justice coalitions, older adult service providers, culturally-specific programs, professionals, health care, and other thought leaders in the elder abuse field, community volunteers working with elders, tribal organizations, domestic and sexual violence programs, senior community centers, restorative justice practitioners, mediators, social workers, and other allied fields such as racial justice, economic justice, and public health.

Accessibility
Accessibility at the Omni Shoreham in Washington DC includes but is not limited to accessible rooms available upon request during time of reservation. Service animals are permitted on site. Valet parking is available in addition to accessible parking spaces. American Sign Language interpretation and other language interpretation services will be available upon request through registration until Friday, May 8, 2023. Tables will be spaced at least 36” apart for wheelchair accessibility and COVID precautions. PowerPoint slides and large font materials will be available up to one week in advance and by request. All meeting rooms are on the first level. Signage is available throughout the hotel to direct individuals to safe routes to reach meeting rooms, elevators, and other areas of the hotel. A concierge is available on site to assist guests with all needs. COVID Pre-Cautions
- The hotel will provide standard cleaning services for each meeting room at the end of each day.
- Hand sanitizer will be available at each table
- Tables will be spaced apart for social distancing
- Masks will be available
- Each participant will receive a COVID test during registration
- Unvaccinated individuals should wear a mask
- If you are displaying symptoms, please do not attend
- All attendees should do what makes them feel safe and protected
- Color-coded lanyards will be available to indicate social distancing preferences—wearing a lanyard is optional.
- We will continue to monitor local guidelines and COVID restrictions.
