“Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. Minnesota House Speaker Melissa Hortman. Police Officer David Rose, working outside the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention headquarters in Atlanta. All murdered in recent months in brutal acts of political violence. We condemn the murder of every one of them.
These murders follow other heinous acts too numerous to list, but they include two assassination attempts against Donald Trump, arson and kidnapping attempts against the Governors of Pennsylvania and Michigan, the brutal attack on Paul Pelosi, and constant threats to the lives of other lawmakers and judges and their families.
We are in the midst of a devastating surge in political violence that is undermining our democracy and harming us all. None of us should remain silent in the face of rising division and extremism. We must continue working to find common ground that recognizes that our shared humanity matters much more than any political or policy disagreements.
FUTURES strongly denounces all acts of political violence and the hate-filled rhetoric that can fuel them. We call for compassion and courage in this difficult time – and we call on our elected leaders to help us heal and chart a better course by doing the same.”
