SAFE EXIT

Child Partnership Coalition

Child Partnership

The Child Partnership is co-chaired by three international organizations: FUTURES, ChildFund International, and First Focus, dedicated to ensuring children and youth around the world are safe, supported, and able to thrive.

The Child Partnership advances a whole-child approach that recognizes children’s needs are interconnected and require coordinated investments across health, education, protection, nutrition, mental health, violence prevention, humanitarian response, and opportunity.

The Problem

Children and youth face growing risks from violence, conflict, exploitation, displacement, online harms, and instability.

  • More than 520 million children live in conflict-affected or fragile settings globally
  • 108 million children have been displaced by war, violence, and persecution
  • Millions of girls remain at risk of violence, exploitation, child marriage, and barriers to education
  • Young girls are twice as likely as boys not to attend school
  • 1 in 5 women ages 20-24 were married as children
  • 1 in 4 have experienced intimate partner violence

Our Approach

Through this partnership, FUTURES advocates for child-centered U.S. foreign policy and global development efforts that prioritize children’s safety, well-being, education, health, protection, and opportunity.

Our Priorities

We are advocating for the creation of an Office of International Children’s Issues to strengthen policies and programs that will:

  • Prevent violence against children
  • Address child sexual abuse and exploitation
  • Combat child trafficking and online harms
  • Support girls’ education and leadership
  • Protect children affected by conflict, migration, and humanitarian crises
  • Promote positive youth development and mental well-being
  • Strengthen safe and supportive family and community environment
