About the Project
Women LEAD is an initiative that aims to create workplaces that are safe for everyone, ensuring women have the knowledge, opportunities, and confidence they need to advance and thrive in the workplace.
The Problem
Sexual harassment, discrimination, and now all the unknowns around AI, can create, for many women, unsafe and unstable working conditions.
- 42% of women experience discrimination at work and
- 40-60% face sexual harassment
Moreover, data shows that more men than women are using AI, which threatens to widen already profound power disparities. We need innovative and data-driven solutions to address both old and new problems that threaten women’s safety and economic security in the workplace.
How Women LEAD Works
Women LEAD combines AI-powered learning, human-centered design, and model workplace policies and practices to transform how women identify and address workplace toxicity, bias, and violence. It offers a unique opportunity to build women’s confidence and fluency in AI-shaped work environments while reducing toxicity and enhancing workplace safety and well-being.
We will:
- Offer an AI-adaptive learning lab that equips women to identify, address, and transform toxic workplace cultures
- Train women to use AI so they can lead systems-level change within their organizations and improve workplace culture, safety, and accountability
- Transform workplaces to be free of toxicity, bias, and violence
Women LEAD combines four core elements:
- An Anchor: With decades of experience, FUTURES anchors the work in systems change and skill development centered on the protective practices for women that promote and maintain safe workplaces
- Design: The non-profit design studio, IDEO.org leads participatory design labs grounded in women’s lived workplace experiences
- AI Adaptive Learning Platform: Uplevyl provides the AI-powered, women-centered learning framework that personalizes AI learning based on industry, role, and local conditions
- National Campaign: Fenton Communications will lead a national strategy that elevates new norms of safety, accountability, and equity for women
