Research shows few survivors are aware of the state and federal workplace protections designed to protect and support survivors. But there are gaps in protections that need to be filled, so all survivors will be able to take leave and qualify for unemployment, even if they voluntarily leave their jobs because of abuse. At Thursday’s event, Futures Without Violence leaders will discuss findings from conversations with hundreds of survivors, employers, and state agencies about the state-level employment protections now in place for survivors, and the gaps in these state-level protections, which can reduce the economic insecurity survivors face if they are pushed out of their jobs due to abuse.

Futures Without Violence runs the federally funded national resource center, Workplaces Respond to Domestic & Sexual Violence.
