Creating Safer Workplaces by Centering Survivors of Violence

Survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking face significant barriers to maintaining employment, yet steady work is often essential to their safety and stability. Employers could play an outsize role in supporting survivors, yet a new report shows most workplaces remain unprepared to respond.

WHAT: The National Domestic Violence Hotline and Futures Without Violence will host a press briefing to release their new report: The Intersection of Work and Abuse. Based on a survey of over 2,000 survivors of domestic violence, dating violence, stalking and sexual abuse across the United States, the report provides insights on the experience of survivors in the workplace and highlights the critical role employers play in helping survivors maintain their employment and plan for their safety.

WHO: Speakers will include:

  • Katie Ray-Jones, chief executive officer, National Domestic Violence Hotline
  • Esta Soler, President, Futures Without Violence
  • Dorian Karp, director of policy, National Domestic Violence Hotline
  • Ana Lopéz Van Balen, vice president, economic security & opportunity, Futures Without Violence
  • Stephanie Bond, survivor
  • Deanna Napier, survivor
  • Sharisse Kimbro, relationship abuse program officer, The Allstate Foundation

WHEN: Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. PT/ 1:00 p.m. CT / 2:00 p.m. ET
