SAFE EXIT

Supporting Children Exposed to Violence (CEV)

About the Project

The CHANGE Collaborative at Futures Without Violence provides training and technical assistance to communities across the country working to improve local capacity to respond to the needs of children and youth impacted by violence in their homes, schools, or communities. Exposure to violence can limit children’s potential, increase their chances of becoming involved in the juvenile or criminal justice system, and lead to long-term impacts on their health and well-being.

These efforts in communities are funded by the Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) at the Department of Justice, which invests approximately $8 million each year to reduce violence against children and youth, provide services to those exposed, and promote healing and hope for the future. Broad-based coalitions provide crisis response, mentorship, academic support, concrete resources, leadership development, arts-based programming, and therapeutic interventions – engaging whole communities to step up for children and youth.
