Experts to Discuss Strategies Showing Promise to

Improve Young Men’s Mental Health

The evidence is everywhere: Many boys and young men in the United States are struggling. Compared to previous generations, they have fewer friendships and weaker ties to family and community. Their growing isolation is fueling depression, disengagement, and – for some – violence.

But there are strategies that help. Futures Without Violence has been working with boys and men for decades to improve their mental health and promote healthy connections by building teams of everyday people who can expand what mental health support for young men looks like and who provides it.

A panel of experts will hold an online briefing Thursday to discuss what we’ve learned and what’s working:

Thursday, December 11 at 3 pm ET

With

Dr. Elizabeth Miller, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine

Bernie Colbert, Coaching Boys Into Men program, Pittsburgh Action Against Rape

Olando Dulin, Coaching Boys Into Men program, Steel Valley School District, Pennsylvania

Jesse Mahler, Futures Without Violence

Brian O’Connor, Futures Without Violence

The briefing is open to media. Register here.

More information on Coaching Boys Into Men is here. Information on Team: Changing Minds, a national mental health response network, is here.

Reporters can contact lisa@prsolutionsdc.com to request a recording of the briefing.
